Most of the techniques she used in this collection like 3-D fabric appliques, fabric manipulation from ruching, ruffling, etc. were pioneered by Monique Lhuillier, even the waist-cinching sashes. This is not classic Vera who entered bridal design via a modern minimalist, albeit dull, aesthetics. I believe the aesthetics for this collection was copied from Monique, the whole hook, lock, key and barrel. But the results are beautiful nonetheless. Just shows me how more of a genius and trendsetter Monique is than Vera. Vera's talent has long been overrated, mostly by the exclusivist set of the industry insiders. But more common people gravitate towards the design aesthetics of Monique primarily because they are more relatable and approachable. So now Vera’s into embellishments?
